I give up at ch735. At first I really enjoyed the author's writing style. And I liked that the MC wasn't omnipotent after her rebirth. She's a true strong woman who climbed up step by step. It was also logical she didn't have a lot of gold fingers. But this book drags on way too long. And after a while the writing style becomes boring and repetitive story lines make me give up. I just want to reach the ending but I don't see it in sight so I'm giving up ch150 early.
Quick Thoughts and Rating: 5 stars! I can’t imagine how challenging it would be to tackle the such family background like hers. With an unapologetically realistic delivery packed with emotion. I have no doubt that this novel is intriguing and will be met with resistance by some (possibly many) readers. ♥ Review: This book has been unquestionable and, admittedly, that made me both eager to get my hands on it and terrified to read it. I mean, what if I was to be the one person that didn’t love it as much as others? (That seems silly now because of how truly mesmerizing the storyline was in the most heartbreakingly realistic way.) I knew this one was a must-read, so I was ready to set my fears aside and dive in.
Very long - probably too much - especially as it has scene after scene of the heroine telling people that she’s married or in a relationship and no one believing her. Her early marriage is one of the best part of the book even if it drives 3/4 of all the drama. Cool story arc about jade stone trading. Kinda interesting storyline about early stock trading in China.
Re-reading this but had to drop this by the 550s or so. The Twenty-yr old heroine is a super businesswoman, a super spy, a super friend of the triads, etc., etc. Everyone in the United States and Europe is racist and every man can't keep it in his pants. Pretty sure this is all for the word count. Don't bother. Too bad, cause the stock market and jewelry market stuff was interesting.
Dropped in to read a few chapters and really couldn't get more. FL is interesting and when she claimed she was only here to create her own life, I loved the story. By 553, the author is really showing their ignorance of how the military and business worlds work in other countries by re-creating them in the image of China's military and government. I'm not mad that they did this - the author is writing for a Chinese audience after all - but it is so totally off the wall that it's obvious the author didn't do any research on the subject. Silly by this point!
This story is quite interesting, CCP propaganda creates a feeling of "Us vs Them" in the common Chinese masses and what better way than to show that Chinese are treated as less than dirt in the Western countries.
In this story, Americans have been portrayed as mean school bullies, where one bullies a person while the others present around laugh at the spectacle. Its so funny to see the arrogant young master trope applied her but at the same time it also shows us the ways in which Westerners especially Americans are presented in China.
While I have no doubts about the "depravity" of New York high class scions, I highly doubt that they are allowed free reign to disturb business parties.
People with Oriental features are not rare in US, for f***'s sake, America as a whole is a country made up of immigrants, why the hell has the author here made it seem like that ML and FL are exotic animals displayed in a zoo.
I never understood the reason about the Leads(ML/FL) of Chinese novels making enemies randomly.
